An Honorable Man

When you meet another Enigma

You know it deep inside

This is how I felt when we met

Unlocking the door to the secrets of your creativity

You indulged us, we were so privileged

I remember many a day turning to night

We were all still building fantasy

Magical mysterious ideas

Stories and laughter filled the room

When we all hung together

Well that was a blessed time

All I have is gratitude for the man you were

All the mentoring you gave my children

You taught us how to shoot a gun

You introduced us to sushi

Your creative writing was exciting

Yet you said JP, your lil bro, was a better writer

Never one to take a compliment

Your aim was to protect and serve

You saw many dangers and you led others through those times

Your leadership skills were from the heart

A deep and profound understanding of things

You had that and more

Not like others, You sought more depth

You wanted to understand the way

You were the genuine article

This world praises people who conform

You did not seek that praise

An Enigma is led by intuition

And because of your solid family

You never doubted your purpose

You instinctively knew

How to freeze time and see eternity

I will miss your stories, your sheepish smile

We will all miss your incredible uniqueness

You were a decorated hero

You left us sooner than we wanted

There are so many more things left unsaid

But I know this

That because of you

I will dig deeper

I will strive and hope

I will believe in the power of love

Of friendship and of family

Thank you Sir, you will be remembered

You will be missed

But the world was touched by you

And that means it was changed for the better

I know you can hear me

Until we meet again Josh

On the right side of things forevermore

May your wife and daughters

Your mother and father, sister and brothers

Nephews and nieces and all those who lay claim

To loving you

May we hold onto your memories forevermore

For someday we will all join you

Then we will understand the mysteries of the universe
