Close Your Eyes and See

The world moves by in front of me

It is like a river running

Who can follow one drop

No-one, it is absorbed into the body

A river is a body of water

Immeasurable drops of water

Only when you reach in and grab a handful

Can you see the drops fall from your hand

We are but drops of water

Yet we are life and we give life

Rushing with swirling eddies

If you put your foot in the river

And pull it out

Then put it back again

It is not the same river

The water has changed

Moved on so quickly

I close my eyes to see

The memories flood my mind

Times when I was a child

In my childhood home

Times when I raised my own tribe

Who have long since grown and gone

In the meditations of my heart

I feel the hopes and dreams

I look back now and see

So many things I worried about are over

And this moment will be over

It will rush by like the river

Things changed and continue to

New hopes must arise

Discipline is the key

Managing the time left

It is a balance to spin the plates

Sometimes one falls and breaks

It’s our mistakes that teach us valuable lessons

As we weave the tapestry of our lives

We write our stories

Cherish every minute

Whenever you spend time

With the ones you love

Sometimes we must rest and sleep

But when I open my eyes

I want to see you in my minds eye

All of you, my tribe

I see a world of possibility

For each one of you

And I see me

Blessed to have this time on earth

There is more

So much more

And I want to follow the path that leads me to it!
